Byrd graduated at the top of his class from Quinnipiac College of Law in Hamden, Connecticut in 1995 and started working at the Public Defender's Office in Sarasota in 1996. After he gained some experience in the criminal law field, he opened up his own practice in 1998. Since then, Byrd has defended over 2,000 criminal cases and gives each case his full attention.
